RERUNS' STORY
How a silly idea became a reality!
Hi there, I'm Jacque, owner of Reruns.
Opening a consignment store began as a silly idea between my sister and me. Small business is kind of in my bones – my dad owned Taylor's Mobil for many years.
After 20+ years in the mortgage industry, I took a break. Then fate nearly hit me in the nose one day when I drove past the old pharmacy building and saw it was for sale. I did some digging and discovered it was still owned by the pharmacist I'd worked for in high school – crazy, right? I called him up and we made it happen.
In December 2010, I opened the doors just to accept inventory and gauge the community's interest. The response was solid, so I moved forward. On January 20, 2011, I officially opened Reruns, even though I had zero experience in retail.
Honestly? I'm still learning every day. But my favorite phrase to hear is: "You had exactly what I needed – you saved me a trip to Rockford." That's when I know we're doing something right.
Fifteen years in, I'm proud of what we've built. It turns out people really do want a place to buy and sell quality stuff without leaving town – and I love being the one who made that happen.
